Core Values
We Value:
Fulfilling the Great Commission. (Matthew 28:18-20)
We believe . . . the primary purpose of New Life is to "make disciples of all nations." Making disciples means:
1) Going - Pursuing those people who do not know Jesus Christ as their Savior and sharing the Gospel message;
2) Baptizing - Winning lost people to Christ and publicly identifying them with the body of Christ through Water Baptism;
3) Teaching Them to Obey - Helping Christians grow to maturity as they follow Christ's example of a holy and righteous life.
We are committed to dedicating ourselves to fulfilling the Great Commission.
Learning and Applying Biblical Truths. (Acts 2:42; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21, Ps. 119:9-16)
We believe . . . the Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God. The Bible is the authoritative and trustworthy rule of faith and practice for Christians. Therefore, we will equip Christians, through the preaching and teaching of God's Word, to follow Christ on a daily basis.
We are committed to offering a variety of on-going Bible studies.
Developing Loving Relationships. (Acts 2:42; Ephesians 2:11 - 3:13, Psalm 133:1-3)
We believe . . . the hallmark of the Christian community is a loving, caring fellowship of believers. New Life is a community of Christians who desire to love one another. Jesus modeled love for His disciples as He spent time talking and eating with them. Furthermore, Jesus Christ broke down every barrier that separates people.
We are committed to loving everyone regardless of his or her race, economic or educational status.
Celebrating the Ordinances. (Acts 2:42; Acts 8:26-40; Luke 22:19)
We believe . . . God established two ordinances for the church to practice - Water Baptism and The Lord's Supper. These ordinances identify us as Christians and are meant to encourage and strengthen the body of Christ.
We are committed to practicing these ordinances consistently.
Communicating with God through Prayer. (Lk. 11, Acts 2:42; James 5:13-18; Matthew 7:7-11)
We believe . . . God desires for His people to pray, and He hears and answers prayers. We will minister through prayer and the laying on of hands and anointing with oil, which is a symbol of the working of the Holy Spirit and the faith of the body of Christ.
We are committed to providing personal and corporate times of prayer.
Doing Ministry. (1 Corinthians 12: 1-31, 1 Peter 4:10, Romans 12:6)
We believe . . . God has given Christians spiritual gifts to be used to build His kingdom through ministry.
We are committed to helping Christians discover their spiritual gifts and guiding them to serve in ministries that are consistent with their giftedness and passions.
Managing Financial Resources to the Glory of God. (Acts 2:45; Mal. 3:7-12; Matt. 22:21;Ps. 37:21)
We believe . . . God has given us financial resources to use for His glory. Tithing, paying taxes, providing for our families, paying debts on time and in full, minimizing debt, investing, and helping others are the responsibilities of Christians. We will give financially to support missions. We will hire staff as needed. We will budget to provide adequate facilities for ministry.
We are committed to teaching solid financial management principles for the uplifting of God's kingdom.
Experiencing Praise and Worship. (Acts 2:47; Exodus 20:3-5; Psalm 95:6; Psalm 95, 150)
We believe . . . praise and worship is important in the life of the church. Praise and worship is emphasized in the Scriptures and brings unity to the body of Christ. Genuine praise and worship is an active response to God's omnipotence and glorifies and honors Him alone. While we value different styles of music, our primary music style is praise and worship.
We are committed to praising and worshipping God through contemporary music.
Sharing Christ through Evangelism and Missions. (Acts 2:47; Acts 1:8; Mk 16:15; Matt. 6:1-4; Matt. 9:35-38)
We believe . . . the Church has been commissioned to passionately seek out lost people. We must continually share the Gospel message with a dying world, praying for the Holy Spirit to convict and draw hearts to Him.
We are committed to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ locally as well as supporting and sending missionaries to witness throughout the world.
Modeling Godly Leadership. (Acts 2:47; 1 Timothy 3; Titus 1-2; John 13:1-5)
We believe . . . church leaders have certain responsibilities. Church leaders should display godly characters and be examples of righteousness for the congregation and community. In addition, we believe God requires specific qualifications for the elders (pastor), and deacons. These Christian leaders must possess godly characters, common visions for the church, and have servants' hearts. As these leaders seek God's will for New Life, the body of Christ will respond to their influence.
We are committed to raising up leaders who demonstrate integrity and faithfulness to Christ.
Building Great Families. (Ephesians 5:22 - 6:4; Genesis 2:24-25; Duet. 6:4-7; Proverbs 22:6)
We believe . . . developing great Christian families is essential for the building up of the church. In today's world, divorce, homosexual relationships, cohabitation, and pre-marital and extra-marital sex have become commonplace. These behaviors weaken the family and the church and are unacceptable lifestyles for Christians.
We are committed to equipping families with Biblical truths that will result in stronger marriages, more effective parenting, and well-grounded children and youth.
Practicing Church Discipline. (Matthew 18:15-20; Galatians 6:1)
We believe . . . God desires for His church to be Holy, set apart from the world. Scriptures give instruction for correcting a Christian who sins against another believer. 1 - The sin is to be discussed privately between the involved parties, and the truth shared. 2 - If there is an unwillingness to repent and change, then two or three witnesses are to go to the individual, and share truth. 3 - If the person will not repent, the matter is brought before the church. 4 -After this, if the person remains unrepentant, then the member's name is removed from the membership.
We are committed to church discipline that is Scriptural and leads to repentance and restoration.
